General Electrician Construction

Job Summary:

Performs general construction duties as a Journey-level Electrician for electric operations, including reviewing schematics, installing equipment, and ensuring safe and efficient electrical system operations. This position requires travel and relocation within the service territory.

Responsibilities:

• Review, verify, and modify electrical schematics and prints.
• Prepare materials for installation, including conduit, steel, wires, and junction boxes.
• Perform safety procedures, such as high-voltage protective grounding.
• Install electrical equipment, overhead and underground systems, control panels, and protection systems.
• Operate construction equipment, including crane trucks, man lifts, and forklifts.
• Perform site preparation, excavation, and soil replacement.
• Remove old high-voltage equipment and structures.
• Drive and operate company vehicles at job sites.
• Ensure a clean and safe work environment.
• Overtime may be required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Completion of NJATC Union Sanctioned Inside Wireman Electrician Apprenticeship.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Safe driving skills in all weather and road conditions.
• Willingness to travel and relocate as needed.
• Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable working in remote locations with potential exposure to wildlife and natural hazards.
• Must wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• For provisional hires, completion of training within 12 months is required.
• Possession of a CA CDL Class A permit or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Residence within 30 miles of the job location.
• 3-5 years of journey-level experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction.
• Previous experience in PG&E construction or utility projects.
• Experience with electronic or mechanical equipment.
• Instrumentation and control experience.
• Motor control experience.
• Experience in electrical substations or power generation.
• High-voltage experience.
• Proficiency with testing equipment and troubleshooting.

Salary:

• Hourly wage: $68.56 per hour (subject to collective bargaining agreements).

Pre-Employment Testing:

• Physical Test Battery (PTB).
• Work Orientation Inventory-Physical/Technical Driving (WOI-D).
• Electrician Assessment.
