Paint Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the paint finishing systems, supervising paint technicians and maintenance personnel. This role ensures compliance with governmental regulations related to water quality, air emissions, and hazardous waste management while optimizing paint system performance.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and direct the daily operation of paint finishing equipment.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programs and emergency repairs to maintain a minimum of 99% uptime.
• Analyze and justify future equipment requirements and capital expenditures.
• Control operating budgets, including labor, paint, chemicals, and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including EPA and DNR reporting.
• Maintain inventory for consumables, repair parts, and supplies.
• Train personnel on equipment operation, chemical handling, and necessary computer skills.
• Monitor quality control performance and ensure operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate MSDS inventory sheets in compliance with Right-To-Know regulations.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams for process improvements.
• Work with external suppliers to integrate new technologies and finishing quality improvements.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the paint department.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Manufacturing Engineer III: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering and 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing systems, processes, tooling, and work measurement. Two to four years of experience in paint finishing technology.
• Manufacturing Engineer II: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering and 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing systems, processes, tooling, and work measurement. Two to four years of experience in paint finishing technology.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with chemical theory.
• Excellent supervisory and budgeting skills.

Salary:

• Annual salary range: $82,700 - $120,000.
