Operational Technologies Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the maintenance and repair of mobile and portable equipment, ensuring operational readiness across a diverse fleet of specialized vehicles. The position involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and maintaining emergency response, seasonal operations, and specialty equipment. Working alongside a skilled team, the successful candidate will contribute to the efficiency and safety of airport operations.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair emergency rescue and operations vehicles, including fire trucks, air stairs, light emergency response vehicles, foam trailers, and pumps.
• Service and repair summer operations equipment such as mowers, backhoes, excavators, and road maintenance machinery.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on winter operations vehicles, including those used for snow and ice control.
• Ensure proper functioning of specialty equipment and tooling.
• Plan, schedule, and organize work areas and facilities efficiently.
• Provide leadership and knowledge-sharing support to assigned apprentices.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Three years of recent, related experience, supplemented by the completion of a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety as a top priority.
• Valid BC driver’s license (Class 1 preferred; minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement required).

Salary:

• Competitive salary ranging from $78,537 to $102,646 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek and tailored to experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
